kössy terms of use
Last updated: 25 October 2026
This English text is a translation provided for information. The Hungarian version is the binding one.
In short
kössy is a free service for writing a thank-you letter (a kössy letter) and sending it to someone as a link. Write only kind, honest thanks. Every letter is checked automatically before it is saved, the recipient can report a hurtful letter, and we remove letters that break these rules. kössy is an early, experimental version: things may change or stop working, and we are open about it.
Who provides kössy
kössy is provided by Creego Six Consulting Kft., registered office: 2161 Csomád, Szent István utca 19. A. ép. fszt. 3., company registration number: 13-09-209203, registered by: Budapest Környéki Törvényszék Cégbírósága, tax number: 28949437-2-13, email: creegosix@gmail.com (“kössy”, “we”). Hosting provider: Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL, 38 Avenue John F. Kennedy, L-1855 Luxembourg.
What these terms cover
These terms apply to everyone who uses the kössy website at kossy.eu: people who write a letter (senders), people who open one (recipients) and visitors. By writing a letter you accept these terms. How we handle personal data is described in the privacy notice (kossy.eu/privacy). What letters may contain and how reports are handled is described in “Content and reporting rules” below, which is part of these terms.
The service
- You can write a letter on kossy.eu/write without registering. You give the recipient’s name, the text, and optionally your own name; if you leave your name out, the letter is anonymous to the recipient.
- Before the letter is saved, its text and both names are checked on their own and together by an automated safety check. If the check finds hurtful or harmful content, the letter is not saved and you can rewrite it.
- Once saved, you get a link. Anyone who has the link can open the letter, so send it only to the person it is meant for. We do not send the letter for you.
- The page shown to the recipient can be in Hungarian or English; we do not translate the text of your letter.
- Until the recipient first opens it, you can withdraw the letter on the page where you wrote it. Once you close that page, or once the letter is opened, you can no longer withdraw it yourself. The recipient can delete the letter at any time; after that, the link shows that it was deleted, and the letter is deleted for good 3 months later.
- A letter that is never opened is deleted after 90 days. An opened letter is kept until one year after its last opening.
- We cannot recover a lost link, because we do not keep the access code it contains.
- kössy is free. We show no ads.
Your letter and your responsibility
You are responsible for what you write. By writing a letter you confirm that:
- it is a sincere thank-you or a message of gratitude meant for the recipient, and it follows the content and reporting rules;
- it is not hurtful, mocking, threatening, hateful, sexual, discriminatory, misleading or unlawful, and it is not advertising or spam;
- you do not pretend to be someone else;
- you do not include more personal data about anyone than a thank-you needs, and no sensitive data (for example health data, contact details or identity numbers) about other people;
- you do not infringe anyone’s rights, for example copyright or the right to privacy and reputation.
The letter remains yours. You allow kössy to store it, run the safety check on it, and show it to whoever opens the link, for as long as the letter exists and only for running the service. We do not publish letters, we do not use their text for advertising, and we do not pass them on to anyone unless the law requires it.
Things you must not do
- send letters automatically, in bulk, or with scripts or bots;
- try to get around the safety check or the security protections;
- try to open letters that were not sent to you, or guess links;
- overload, attack or interfere with the service;
- use kössy to harass, frighten or embarrass anyone.
What we can do
If a letter breaks these terms or the law, we can remove it, and we can block requests from places that misuse the service. How we decide is described in “Content and reporting rules” below. We act in a timely, careful and objective way, and in proportion to the problem.
Letters are not edited by us. kössy staff look at a letter only in exceptional, logged cases: when it is reported, or when an authority lawfully requires it.
Availability and changes
kössy is in an early, experimental phase. We try to keep it running, but we cannot promise that it is always available or free of errors. We may change, pause or end the service. If we end it, we announce this on the website at least 30 days in advance, so recipients can read their letters until then.
We may change these terms. We publish the new version at least 15 days before it takes effect, except when a change is required by law or needed urgently to protect users. If you do not accept the change, do not write new letters; letters already written continue under the terms that applied when they were written, except where the law requires otherwise.
Liability
kössy is a free service that stores and displays letters written by users. We are not responsible for the content of letters written by others, but we act as described in the content and reporting rules when we learn of unlawful or harmful content.
We are not liable for damage caused by a letter being unavailable, deleted after its expiry, or opened by someone the sender shared the link with. Nothing in these terms limits our liability where the law does not allow it, in particular for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or for harm to life, physical integrity or health.
Complaints and disputes
If you have a complaint, write to creegosix@gmail.com. We answer within 30 days.
If you are a consumer and we cannot resolve your complaint, you can turn to the conciliation body (békéltető testület) of your place of residence, or to the Budapest Conciliation Body (Budapesti Békéltető Testület, 1016 Budapest, Krisztina krt. 99., www.bekeltet.hu). You can also contact the consumer protection authority or go to court.
Contract details
- The contract between you and kössy is concluded electronically when you write a letter. It is not a written contract, it is not filed by us, and it does not refer to any code of conduct.
- You can check and correct what you typed in the preview before you create the link.
- The language of the contract is Hungarian. This English translation is provided for information.
- Hungarian law applies. A consumer keeps the protection of the mandatory rules of their country of residence.
Content and reporting rules
A kössy letter should be a good moment in someone’s day. This part says what a letter may contain, how we keep hurtful letters out, and what happens when someone reports one.
What a kössy letter is for
A kössy letter is a thank-you: what someone did for you and what it meant. It can be short, simple or imperfect. It can mention hard times you went through together. It is welcome in Hungarian, English or any other language.
What is not allowed
- hurtful, mocking or sarcastic “thank-yous”, and letters meant to shame or embarrass someone;
- threats, harassment and intimidation;
- hate speech or discrimination against anyone because of their origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, age or any other characteristic;
- sexual content, and any content that sexualises minors;
- glorifying or calling for violence, self-harm or crime;
- sensitive data about other people (for example their health, contact details or identity numbers), and secrets that are not yours to share;
- pretending to be someone else;
- advertising, spam, links to scams and chain letters;
- anything else that is unlawful.
Automated check before saving
Every letter is checked automatically before it is saved. The check looks at the text, the recipient’s name and the sender’s name on their own and together, and filters hate, insults, sexual content, violence and misconduct. It runs on Amazon Bedrock Guardrails in data centres inside the European Union. If it finds a problem, the letter is not saved and the sender sees a message asking them to rewrite it; no letter is stored and nobody at kössy reads it. If the check is not available, we do not save letters until it works again.
No automated check is perfect: it can stop a kind letter or let a hurtful one through. If your letter was stopped and you think it should not have been, try rewording it, or write to us at creegosix@gmail.com.
Reporting a letter
As the recipient: use the “Hurtful letter? Let us know.” link under the letter. You do not need to give your name or explain anything.
Anyone else, for example someone named in a letter, or someone who thinks a letter is unlawful: write to creegosix@gmail.com. Please include the link of the letter, explain why you think it breaks the rules or the law, and, if you can, give your name and email address so we can tell you what we decided. If you report suspected child sexual abuse material, you do not need to give your name.
Please report honestly. We may ignore reports from someone who repeatedly sends reports that are clearly unfounded.
What happens after a report
- We record the report with the letter’s identifier and the time.
- An authorised kössy staff member reviews the letter. This is one of the exceptional cases when we read a letter, and the access is logged.
- We decide whether the letter breaks these rules, the terms of use or the law. We aim to decide within 3 working days.
- If it does, we delete the letter, and the link no longer opens it. If it may also be a crime that threatens someone’s life or safety, we inform the police without delay.
- If it does not, the letter stays. The recipient can still choose not to open it again, or delete it.
- If the person who reported gave us an email address, we tell them our decision and how to challenge it.
Telling the sender
kössy does not ask senders for an email address, so in most cases we cannot tell a sender that their letter was removed. If we have a way to reach the sender, we send them a statement of reasons: what we decided, why, which rule it is based on, whether the decision was automated, and how they can challenge it.
Challenging a decision
If you disagree with a decision, write to creegosix@gmail.com within six months. Where possible, a different person from the one who made the first decision reviews it. You can also turn to the authorities or a court.
Requests from authorities
We follow lawful orders from Hungarian and EU authorities to act against unlawful content or to provide information, and we tell the authority what we did.
